The Best Free Apps for Quest 2

The Oculus Quest 2 is one of the most popular VR headsets at the moment. And for good reason: the headset can be used entirely without an external computer and cables! This headset is, therefore, the ultimate headset to experience virtual reality. But once you have the headset; which games are you going to play? In this blog, we list our favorite VR games and experiences for the Oculus Quest 2.

1. Anne Frank House VR

The first game in this list isAnne Frank House VR. This is more of an experience than a game. The serious subject of Anne Frank's past lays the foundation for this experience. In Anne Frank House VR, you visit the house where Anne Frank and 8 others were hiding during World War II in virtual reality.

The house is completely recreated in virtual reality. Real reconstructions were made for this, making the experience feel very 'real'. Anne Frank House VR is therefore a must-do experience for anyone starting with the Oculus Quest 2 for the first time.

2. Gravity Sketch

Gravity Sketch is thankfully a lighter game. It is a program that enables the user to create 3D artworks. This application was initially used mainly by product designers to set up prototypes of new products in a 3D environment, but Gravity Sketch has since grown into a universal platform for anyone who is creatively inclined.

3. Elixir

With Elixir, we arrive at the first 'game' on this list. Elixir is a creation from Facebook Reality Labs and clearly shows the applications of virtual reality and the functions of the Oculus Quest 2. In the game, you're a wizard who ends up in a magical space. In this space, you can do and touch all sorts of things, leading to the craziest experiences.

A fun detail of Elixir is that the game is advanced in the field of hand-tracking. As you may already know, built-in tracking sensors are embedded in the Oculus Quest 2 headset. These sensors normally register your controllers, but also work with your own hands! Elixir is the perfect game to try this out.

4. Echo VR

The first few games on this list are primarily good games to have a first virtual reality experience, but withEcho VR you can really start gaming. Echo VR is perhaps the best-known game from Oculus. Full-blown E-sports competitions are organized around this game.

In short, Echo VR is a combination of Ultimate Frisbee in a weightless space. Especially when you play the game in a team with, for example, some friends, you can have hours of fun! And if you're good at it, you can always sign up for E-sports competitions!

5. Gorilla Tag

Gorilla Tag is exactly what the name suggests: you're a gorilla trying to tag other gorillas. This sounds hilarious, and it is. The fun thing about Gorilla Tag is that the game is completely online and with a community. You can, for instance, meet up with friends in the same space, but you can also play a game with strangers.

In addition to playing tag enthusiastically, Gorilla Tag is also regularly used as a 'hangout'. You can also just meet up with some people in a space and chat calmly, without having to move too strenuously (comparable to, for example, VR Chat).

6. Epic Roller Coasters

Epic Roller Coaster is a fun VR game when you, or someone else, want to experience virtual reality for the first time. Take a seat in the roller coaster and enjoy a wild ride through the jungle, past zombies, or underwater. Tip: always do this while sitting! When you stand upright and you sit virtually in the roller coaster, you can quickly get nauseous. Some people can handle this better than others, so always test beforehand whether someone enjoys doing it before you let them complete an entire roller coaster ride.

7. Home After War

Just like Anne Frank House VR, Home After War is a virtual reality experience that leaves an impression. It impressively shows the after-effects on people who have experienced a war in their homeland. Home After War is a combination of a virtually simulated world where you can walk around and touch things, and 'real life' 360-degree images and is definitely worth trying out.

8. The Key

Last on this list is The Key. The Key is a 20-minute film project where you embark on a journey in a magical, surreal world of dreams, challenges, and difficult decisions. The beautiful virtual environment combined with the interesting story make The Key a must-do experience on the Oculus Quest 2.

Tip! To really experience a VR game, it's important to have a good virtual reality headset. There are many VR headsets on the market, but did you know that each VR headset has its own 'unique selling point'?
