Virtual Reality advice
Virtual Reality (VR), as the name suggests, is a virtual world. Using two screens in front of your eyes, VR software creates a 3D image, immersing you in a digital world. But unlike a 'regular' digital world, you actually move yourself within this world. You are right in the middle of the action!
What is a VR headset?
When choosing a VR headset, you can opt for a passive or active headset. With a passive headset, you use your own phone. You slide your phone into the headset, placing the screen in front of your eyes. You then play an app or video on your phone, which is split into two smaller videos. Both of the small videos are then played in front of your eyes, creating a 3D effect. With an active VR headset, you use a processor. This means that the power of the VR headset comes from the headset itself (or a linked PC), allowing for much more capabilities with the VR headset. With an active headset, you can simulate entire VR worlds, or play the most extensive VR games.
How can VR headsets be used?
The first consumer VR headsets were primarily used for gaming. The experience of being in a virtual world, and actually being the player, is where VR drew its strength. But VR has now developed to the point where it can be used for a whole host of other things. Many companies are already using VR. For instance, some companies use VR to train their staff in a virtual world (like Walmart employees), or to simulate emergency situations (think of flight attendants practicing an emergency landing). Hospitals and nursing homes also make extensive use of virtual reality.

What can we expect in the future?
Virtual reality is constantly evolving, so it wouldn't surprise us if there are already complete VR businesses or VR lifestyles in a few years. Another interesting development - part of VR - is the use of Augmented Reality (AR). This technique is still relatively new, but it is already being used by companies. With AR, you can merge the real world with the virtual world, making it a perfect accessory for work tasks. The coming years will see many changes, but VR and AR will only become better and more accessible!
