The Scariest VR Horror Games
Virtual Reality games are becoming increasingly better and more realistic. With hyper-realistic graphics, VR can sometimes be almost indistinguishable from reality. This realism naturally provides the perfect foundation for horror games! What could be scarier than being chased by horror clowns in a first-person VR environment..
Through the eyes of the protagonist
Horror games have long been one of the most popular VR game genres. This is because a player experiences the game much more intensely than when you're, for example, sitting behind your PC or Playstation. With a VR headset, you're literally looking through the eyes of the protagonist in the game, making it feel like you're in the (horror) story yourself.
Most VR horror games are relatively short with an average playing time of 2 to 3 hours, but guarantee plenty of scares and jump scares. In this list, we will highlight our 5 favorite VR horror games for you.

The Exorcist: Legion VR (Oculus, Steam & PSVR)
We all know the film classic 'The Exorcist'. Something about this theme creates a creepy atmosphere. The Exorcist: Legion is a VR game consisting of 5 episodes. In the game, you take on the role of a detective. Armed with a cross and holy water, it's your task to investigate a number of mysterious murders.
Although the gameplay is rather simple, The Exorcist: Legion manages to create a very exciting atmosphere with some intense scares. In combination with the cool sound design (tip: play this game with headphones!), The Exorcist: Legion is a great experience for the VR horror fanatics among us.

Narcosis (Oculus & Steam)
Narcosis is not your standard type of horror game. In Narcosis, you play a diver who goes deep underwater for research. Unlike other horror games, Narcosis has almost no jump scares. But what makes the game so creepy is the fact that you're completely isolated and alone in the dark underwater.
Although the game is quite short, the story is solid and the gameplay surprisingly good. Narcosis is therefore a good VR game for anyone looking for an exciting VR game.

Resident Evil VII (PSVR)
Resident Evil is the cult classic among horror games. Originally released for PC and console, Resident Evil 7 brings the horror to VR. In RE7, you're a ghost hunter investigating a seemingly haunted house. With a camera, you document everything, but there are plenty of surprises waiting for you in the house...
Resident Evil 7 is rightly one of the scariest games to play in VR. The scary atmosphere, the jump scares, and the sound design will give you a great horror experience that will keep you up for a few nights.

Dreadhalls VR (Oculus, Steam)
In Dreadhalls VR, you wake up in a dark dungeon. Your only task: find the exit. All you have with you is an oil lamp that you need to keep refilling with new oil. But beware, you're not alone in the dungeon...
Dreadhalls is a must-have for the true horror fans. The isolating feeling of being alone, the dark corridors you slowly walk through, and the sounds you hear around you create an exciting and scary adventure that you can only experience with VR.

AFFECTED: The Manor (Oculus, Steam, PSVR)
In September 1943, a BBC reporter boarded a plane during an Allied bombing raid on Berlin. The incredible recording he returned with forms the basis of this breathtaking experience from BBC Northern Ireland and Immersive VR Education, putting you in a Lancaster bomber as it embarks on a perilous journey.
