The Magic Leap 2 is the latest augmented reality (AR) headset from Magic Leap, and a powerful alternative for businesses and professionals looking for a replacement for the Microsoft HoloLens 2, which is no longer being sold. With a compact, lightweight design and advanced technology, this AR headset is ideal for industrial, medical, and educational applications.
This innovative headset offers an expanded field of view of a staggering 70 degrees, a substantial upgrade over both its predecessor, the Magic Leap 1, and the HoloLens 2. Thanks to advanced optics and high screen resolution, the Magic Leap 2 delivers an immersive and clear AR experience. The headset is equipped with a powerful processor that smoothly runs even the most demanding business AR applications.
Additionally, the Magic Leap 2 features various sensors, including accurate eye tracking through a built-in eye tracker. Control is possible with hand gestures and voice recognition, allowing users to work hands-free and maximize interaction possibilities.
Upon purchase, the Magic Leap 2 comes with a controller and an external power source. The headset is connected to this power source via a discreet cable that can easily be stored in a pocket or attached to pants. This ensures a comfortable, uninterrupted AR experience. For developers, the developer mode is easy to enable and disable via the software.
Important update: Enterprise license now included as standard
As of January 31, 2025, the Magic Leap 2 is standardly shipped with the Enterprise license. This means that previous editions – Base Edition, Developer Pro Edition, and Enterprise Edition – with their separate licensing models are no longer applicable.
With the introduction of Magic Leap OS version 1.12.0, the use of a license key is no longer necessary to access software features. In addition, all time-bound licenses have been converted to a permanent (perpetual) license, giving users unlimited access to the software at no extra cost.
This change provides greater convenience and makes the Magic Leap 2 immediately deployable for business applications.
