The latest development in VR hardware and software
The HP Reverb G2 Omnicept Edition represents the latest evolution in VR hardware and software. This VR headset features built-in eye-tracking, an integrated facial tracker, and even an inbuilt heart rate monitor. The anticipated release date for HP Omnicept is scheduled for May 2021. In this blog, we outline what you can expect from it
Combining the best VR hardware and software
With HP Omnicept, HP introduces an intriguing mix of top-tier VR hardware and software for professional VR users. The HP Reverb G2 Omnicept Edition is an upgraded version of the previously released HP Reverb G2. Featuring an integrated eye-tracker, heart rate monitor, and facial camera, the Reverb G2 Omni promises to be a breath of fresh air in the field of business VR usage
Applications in training, education, wellness, and development
HP's Omnicept targets three main pillars: training, well-being, and creation. Firstly, HP Omnicept is designed for data measurement and analysis. The VR headset can provide companies with more insight into users' cognitive skills. Consider, for example, a police officer who needs to make a crucial decision in a split second
With built-in biometric sensors, the Reverb G2 Omnicept can monitor and analyze the well-being of employees or users. VR can thereby contribute to reducing stress, increasing job satisfaction, or leading to breakthroughs within your company
The integrated sensors of the Reverb G2 Omnicept HMD create a unique experience for users who want to create their own avatar. The built-in facial tracker allows emotions to be displayed in the virtual world, leading to increased engagement and realism during communication in the VR world. And thanks to the built-in inside-out tracking sensors, the Reverb G2 headset is also very easy to use in different environments
Additional features
- Foveated rendering: With integrated eye-tracking from Tobii®, the Reverb G2 Omnicept can distinguish the user's gaze direction, thereby reducing GPU load and improving image quality within the user's field of view, making the VR experience feel more realistic
- Motion tracking: With four cameras and internal position detection sensors, arm and controller movements are tracked even more accurately. Jump straight into virtual reality without additional peripherals, such as external sensors!
- Motion controllers: With a smaller and more ergonomic design, the controllers are natural and comfortable to hold. Also, benefit from excellent tracking performance with an integrated Bluetooth® connection
- Redesigned cable: The new and improved 6-meter cable connects directly to the headset and is thinner and lighter than ever

Complete hardware and software solution
In 3 steps, HP Omnicept provides a comprehensive hardware and software solution for incorporating the Omnicept into business operations
- Step 1: The Reverb G2 HMD captures data through built-in sensors: with the eye-tracker, pupillometry (eye measurement), heart rate monitor, and facial camera, the Reverb G2 can capture all the data that is important to you and your company
- Step 2: Omnicept software analyzes and translates the data: with the extensive Omnicept software (including machine learning), Omnicept analyzes and transforms the data from the Reverb G2 HMD into usable data
- Step 3: Adaptive XR experience: The transformed data can then be used by the end-user for further development

Software: choose the package that suits you!
HP offers an extensive SDK that allows users to select different support levels and functionalities that align with their needs and goals. The Omni Core SDK is free and can be used as standard on the HP Omnicept. However, if you opt for the Academic or Enterprise package, there may be costs associated with the additional services (such as different SDKs and HP service levels). These additional services include an Inference Engine SDK, Pulse Rate Variability API, and extra support for developers. Click here for more information about the software options
