Here's how you can neatly manage your VR cables

Most PC-driven VR headsets are wired to a computer. These headsets are directly connected to the PC's graphics card, enabling you to extract the most power from the PC. However, the downside of cabling is that it often gets in the way. For instance, when you're playing a VR game where you can move 360 degrees. Spinning around multiple times can cause your headset cable to get tangled. That's why it's essential to use a VR Cable Management system. You can easily attach this to the ceiling and run your headset cable through it. This way, you can enjoy VR without being bothered by the cables!

Step 1: Position your PC conveniently

A VR headset cable has a limited length (usually ± 5 meters). This length can be extended for some VR headsets, but in many cases, this results in loss of quality. To get the most out of your VR cable, we advise placing the computer as close as possible (and preferably as high as possible) to the wall - for instance, on a desk against the wall. This way, you prevent the headset cable from having to run to the wall first, then go up, then across the ceiling, and finally come down to the headset. By placing the PC as close and as high as possible against the wall, you skip the first part (running the cable to the wall and up). This results in about 1 to 2 meters of "extra" cable, which you can use to manage the cable neatly.

Step 2: Attach the VR cable management stickers

The VR cable management systems consist of stickers, pulleys, and hooks. Hang the stickers on the ceiling with a small gap between them (± 30 - 60 centimeters). Typically, three stickers are enough, but for a larger distance, you can use more.

Step 3: Attach the pulleys to the stickers

Now that the stickers are on the ceiling, you can attach the pulleys to the stickers. The pulleys ensure that the headset cable can move flexibly. These pulleys are similar to hangers where you can attach a ski pass: you can pull it out, and as soon as you let go, the cord retracts. The same applies to a headset cable. When you attach a cable to a pulley, you can move in all directions. For instance, when you dive down, the cable moves with you without any problems, and when you jump up, the pulley automatically retracts the cable.

Step 4: Detach the headset cable from your VR glasses and attach the cable to the pulleys

Now you're going to run the headset cable through the pulleys. It's easiest to detach your headset cable from the VR glasses, so you can easily move around the room. Once you've detached the cable, attach it to all cable management systems. Some systems consist of carabiner hooks, while others work with a click-system (like this cable management system).

Step 5: Leave some slack at the last pulley

A common mistake when setting up a VR cable management system is putting equal tension on all pulleys. This makes you uncomfortable and you'll notice that the last cable starts to "pull" your headset. In this video this is well explained how to prevent this.
