HTC's Anticipated New Headsets: VIVE Pro 2 and VIVE Focus 3
HTC's new hardware seems to be completely aimed at businesses and professional users, such as location-based entertainment venues and developers

Vivecon Event
HTC plans to announce two new HTC headsets during the Vivecon event (May 11th and 12th): the HTC VIVE Pro 2 and the HTC VIVE Focus 3 (Business Edition). Both VR headsets are fully focused on enterprises - and can therefore be purchased with a business warranty. We expect the VIVE Focus 3 to come standard with this business warranty, and the VIVE Pro 2 to offer it optionally. Both new headsets are expected to be available in May 2021
Teasers
For some time now, photos have been circulating in which HTC teases the new VR headsets. By revealing small parts of the headset, a real hype has emerged around the new headsets. While many VR enthusiasts were hoping for a strong competitor to the Oculus Quest 2 - Oculus is part of Facebook, which for many users is a dealbreaker - it turns out that the new headsets, unfortunately, are not aimed at consumers after all. HTC seems to indicate that the headsets will be particularly suitable for "working in virtual reality". Whether this will also be the case with the new VIVE Pro 2 remains to be seen. We hope in any case that the headset will be a good successor to the original HTC VIVE and VIVE Pro, so that the headset can still be used well in VR Arcade environments
Ready to work in Virtual Reality?
However, HTC has already indicated that it is also working on a separate standalone VR headset that can compete directly with the Oculus Quest 2. Just a few weeks ago, HTC won the covetediF Design Award for a (still) non-existing VR headset: the VIVE Air. However, HTC then indicated that this was only a concept headset, but that "the design language and elements are a source of inspiration for the upcoming VR headsets"

HTC Focuses on Businesses
HTC seems to be focusing on businesses and professional users, such as location-based entertainment venues and developers in the coming period. This seems like a logical choice, as Oculus seems to dominate the consumer market at the moment. Whether HTC will focus on consumers at a later stage remains to be seen. For now, we will have to wait for the Vivecon event to get more information about the new headsets and the future of HTC VIVE
